Questions about KoolBreeze Heating & Air

Questions, answered.

Pricing, scheduling, repairs, replacements and mini-splits. If your question isn’t here, give us a call.

Scheduling & Pricing

How quickly can you come out?

Same-day visits are common, especially if you call in the morning. During heat waves we prioritize systems that are completely down.

What does a service call cost?

There’s a diagnostic fee to come out and find the problem. You’ll know it before we arrive, and you’ll get the repair price before any work starts.

Do you give free estimates on new systems?

Yes. Replacement and installation estimates are free and come in writing.

What are your hours?

Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm. If you have a problem outside those hours, call (858) 753-4356 and we’ll let you know what’s possible.

How can I pay?

Payment is due when the job is done. Ask about payment options when you book.

General Questions

Do you repair or just replace?

Repair comes first. Steve will only recommend a new system when it’s really the better value, and he’ll explain why.

What brands do you work on?

All major brands of central air, furnaces, heat pumps and ductless mini-splits.

Who actually comes to my home?

Steve, the owner. You talk to the person doing the work from start to finish.

Do you work on older systems?

Yes. Many older systems can be repaired. We’ll give you an honest read on whether it’s worth it.

Do you service rental properties and businesses?

Yes. We work with homeowners, landlords, property managers and small businesses.

How often should my system be serviced?

Once a year for each system, ideally in spring for AC and fall for heating.

What size system do I need?

It depends on the home, not just the square footage. We size every system during an in-home visit.

AC Repair

Can you come out the same day?

Often, yes. Call as early as you can, especially during a heat wave, and we’ll fit you in whenever possible.

Do you charge a service call fee?

There is a diagnostic fee to come out and find the problem. You’ll know it before we arrive.

Do you work on older systems?

Yes. Plenty of older systems can be repaired. We’ll tell you honestly when a repair makes sense and when it doesn’t.

What brands do you service?

We work on all major brands of central air, heat pumps and ductless mini-splits.

Will you try to sell me a new system?

No. If a repair will keep you running reliably, that’s what we recommend. Replacement only comes up when it’s really the better deal.

AC Installation & Replacement

How long does an installation take?

Most residential replacements take one to two days, depending on the system and any ductwork changes.

Do you install heat pumps?

Yes, including hybrid systems that pair a heat pump with a gas furnace.

How do I know what size I need?

We size the system to your home during the visit rather than guessing from the old unit.

Should I repair or replace?

We’ll give you an honest answer based on age, condition and repair cost. Many systems just need a repair.

Do you remove the old equipment?

Yes. We disconnect and haul away the old unit as part of the installation.

Heating Repair & Installation

Do you work on gas furnaces and heat pumps?

Yes, both, including hybrid systems that use a heat pump with a furnace backup.

How often should a heater be serviced?

Once a year, ideally in the fall before you need it.

Is a heat pump a good fit in San Diego?

Often, yes. Our mild winters make heat pumps an efficient way to heat and cool with one system.

My heater only runs a few minutes and shuts off. Why?

Short cycling usually points to a dirty flame sensor, an airflow restriction or a thermostat problem.

Can you replace my furnace and AC together?

Yes. Replacing both at once lets us match the system for the best efficiency.

Ductless Mini-Splits

How many rooms can one system handle?

Multi-zone systems can run several indoor units from one outdoor unit, each with its own controls.

Do mini-splits heat too?

Yes. They’re heat pumps, so they heat and cool efficiently.

Can you repair a mini-split someone else installed?

Yes. We regularly troubleshoot and repair existing ductless systems.

How long does installation take?

A single-zone install usually takes one day. Multi-zone systems take a bit longer.

How often should they be cleaned?

Rinse filters every month or two, and schedule a professional cleaning about once a year.

Which areas do you serve?

La Mesa, El Cajon, Santee, Lemon Grove and Spring Valley, plus nearby East County communities. If you’re close by and don’t see your area, call anyway.
